Choices [Day Program]
Choices provides Day Program services to eligible people with disabilities who are not engaged in paid employment for the medium to long term.
Most people receive support through Ageining, Disability and Home Care funding provided to the service through:
- Post School Options Program
- 300 Places Day Program
- Community Participation Program
- Life Choices Program
People receive support based on their individual needs to develop skills and pursue their aspirations. Support is usually a mix of 1:1 and small group activity and may include:
- Specific Skills Development and Training - from personal care/grooming, social skills, cooking, budgeting and banking through to community access, accessing and using public transport and community navigation skills.
- Volunteering Opportunities in community organisations including environmental projects, Meals on Wheels and Library Services in hospitals
- Specifically tailored and individualised Literacy and Numeracy programs
- Community based Music and Arts programs
- Sports and fitness activities
- Work placements and training
- Personal planning and problem solving
- Understanding current affairs and events
