Chill Out Café
The Chill Out Café operates from the Coffs Harbour Community Village in Earl Street Coffs Harbour and is open Tuesday to Friday from 10.00am – 2.00pm for morning tea and lunch.
The café is staffed by people with disabilities who work in roles as wait staff, kitchen hands and beverage preparation. Meals are prepared in a commercial kitchen by a cook and operations are overseen by a Cafe Supervisor. The café provides an opportunity for staff to gain real experience in the hospitality sector.
The Chill Out is a “community café” and attracts a wide range of diners who enjoy a convenient, bright venue for informal lunch meetings. Meals are competitively priced and there is a rich social atmosphere for diners who choose to eat in the seated restaurant area.
The café also incorporates a joint project with Coffs Harbour Meals on Wheels Services (MOW). MOW recipients (and eligible patrons) present a card (cards can be obtained by contacting either the Cafe or MOW) when paying for meals to receive a subsidised meal (normal MOW cost). This provides an opportunity for MOW recipients to mix and socialise with others over a meal at an affordable cost and operates each day the café is open.
