Who We Are

Coffs Harbour Support Services Inc. is a non-profit organisation funded by Ageing, Disability and Home Care, Department of Human Services NSW (ADHC), to provide support to people with disabilities. The organisation was established in 1993 under the Incorporated Associations Act and is governed by a Board of members who share a commitment to community development and the provision of high quality support and services to people with disabilities. Our services are built on the fundamental belief that services should be provided in ways that support people to lead valued roles and lives in our community. In order to achieve this, support is based around the needs and aspirations of each service user as an individual. People using our services have regular planning meetings to look at what they wish to achieve and how best to assist in the realisation of these goals and aspirations. Service actions are reviewed regularly to ensure support is in line with the needs and aspirations of service users. Coffs Harbour Support Services is committed to building partnerships with the people who use our services, families, advocates, other service providers and the community. We believe this framework is important to ensure the maintenance of people’s informal networks and better access to services in the community to meet the needs of people within the context of the community in which they live.

What We Do

We provide support to people with disabilities through the following projects and programs:

1.         Drop-In/Outreach accommodation support to people living in their own homes. Support varies from 3 – 30 hours per week and is provided to people living on their own or in shared accommodation settings. Support workers assist people to develop and maintain a range of skills such as cooking, money management and caring for their home. Support is also provided to access community events and facilities, recreation/leisure activities and health services.

2.         24 Hour accommodation support to people requiring higher levels of support. The organisation currently supports 3 outlets to support people to live in shared accommodation in the community to develop and maintain living skills and to access and participate in the community.

3.         Choices in which people are supported to participate in the community. This may involve community access, recreation and leisure pursuits, development and maintenance of skills with support provided either on a 1:1 basis or in small groups. Choices also runs the Chill Out Café Tuesday to Friday inclusive.

4.         Fee For Service Program provides support and/or case management on a contract basis for other organisations. The program provides opportunities for support for people who are not part of the general services.
